Data protection statement

Scope of applicability
This data protection statement explains to users the nature, scope and purpose in which the responsible provider [ASTRO Strobel Kommunikationssysteme GmbH, Olefant 3, 51427 Bergisch Gladbach (Bensberg),, tel. 02204-405-0] gathers and uses personal data on this website (referred to in the following as the “web offering”).
The legal basis of data protection can be found in the Federal Data Protection Act [Bundesdatenschutzgesetz, BDSG] and the Telemedia Act [Telemediengesetz, TMG].

Access data / server log files
The provider (and/or its webspace provider) gathers data about every occasion on which the web offering is accessed (so-called "server log files"). Such access data includes:

Name of the web page accessed, file, date and time of access, data quantity transferred, report of successful access, browser type and version, user's operating system, referrer URL (the previous site visited), IP address and requesting provider.

The provider uses the protocol data solely for statistical evaluations for the purposes of the operation, security and optimisation of the web offering. The provider reserves the right, however, to review the protocol data at a later time if, on the grounds of specific evidence, a justified suspicion of illegal use exists.

When contact is made with the provider (e.g. via a contact form or e-mail), the user's details are stored for the purposes of handling the query and in case follow-on queries arise.

Comments and posts
When users leave comments in the blog or other posts, their IP addresses are stored. This is done for the security of the provider, in case someone writes illegal content in comments and posts (libel, banned political propaganda etc.). In such a case, the provider may itself be prosecuted for the comment or post; it therefore has an interest in knowing the identity of the author.

With the newsletter, we inform you about us and our offerings.

If you would like to receive the newsletter, we need you to provide us with a valid e-mail address and information permitting us to check that you are the owner of the e-mail address provided or that its owner agrees to receive the newsletter. No further data is gathered. This data is used solely for sending the newsletter and is not passed to third parties.

When you register for the newsletter, we store your IP address and the date of registration. Storing this data serves solely to provide proof in the event that a third party misuses an e-mail address and registers the proper user for the newsletter without his or her knowledge.

You may revoke your consent to the storage of your data and e-mail address and your consent to their use for sending the newsletter at any time. Such revocation may be made via a hyperlink in the newsletters themselves, in your profile or by notifying us via the forms of contact referred to above.

Incorporation of third-party services and content
It may happen that third-party content, such as YouTube videos, maps from Google Maps, RSS feeds or graphics from other websites are incorporated into this online offering. A precondition of this is always that the providers of the said content (referred to in the following as "third-party providers") are aware of users' IP addresses. This is because without the IP address they would not be able to send the content to the user's browser. IP addresses are therefore necessary in order to show such content. We strive only to use content whose providers use IP addresses for the supply of the content alone. However, we have no influence on whether third-party providers store IP addresses for e.g. statistical purposes. Where we are aware of such storage, we make users aware of it.

Use of Facebook social plugins
This web offering uses social plugins ("plugins") of the social network, which is operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA ("Facebook"). Plugins are recognisable by one of the Facebook logos (a white "f" against a blue tile or a "thumbs-up" sign), or are identified by the words "Facebook social plugin". The list and appearance of the Facebook social plugins can be viewed here:

If a user calls up a web page of this web offering that contains a plugin of this type, his/her browser will establish a direct link with Facebook's servers. The content of the plugin will be transmitted by Facebook directly to your browser and incorporated by the browser into the website. The provider therefore has no influence on the scope of the data that Facebook will collect with the aid of this plugin and thus hereby informs the user of the extent of its knowledge accordingly:

Through the incorporation of the plugins, Facebook receives the information that a user has called up the relevant page of the web offering. If the user is logged into Facebook, Facebook can associate the visit with his/her Facebook account. If users interact with the plugins, for instance by pressing the "like" button or posting a comment, the associated information will be transmitted directly to Facebook by your browser and stored there. If a user is not a Facebook member, the possibility nevertheless exists that Facebook will obtain knowledge of his/her IP address and store it. According to Facebook, only anonymised IP addresses are stored in Germany.

The purpose and scope of data gathering and the further processing and use of the data by Facebook, along with the relevant rights and optional settings serving to protect the privacy of users can be found in these data protection statements by Facebook:

If a user is a Facebook member and does not wish Facebook to collect data about him/her via this web offering and connect it with his/her membership details as stored at Facebook, he/she must log out of Facebook before visiting our internet presence.

If the user calls up a web page of this web offering that contains such a button, the browser establishes a direct connection with the servers of Google Inc. The content of the "+1" button is transmitted by Google directly to his/her browser and incorporated by the browser into the web page. The provider therefore has no influence over the scope of the data that Google collects via the button. According to Google, no personal data is collected unless the button is clicked. Such data, which includes amongst other things the IP address, is only collected and processed for logged-in members.

Users can find the purpose and scope of data gathering and the further processing and use of the data by Google, along with the relevant rights and optional settings serving to protect their privacy, in Google's data protection statements on the "+1" button: and FAQs:
